He’s starred alongside Jackie Chan, as well as Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, later becoming the love interest of Taylor Swift in a hot video. Now, he’s all grown up and has recently been seen blowing things up in Battle: Los Angeles and X-Men.  [Updated mid-2011]

Lucas Till was born in the U.S. state of Texas and raised in a suburb outside of Atlanta, Georgia. As a youngster, people started noticing his talent for performing and, within a couple years, he found himself in Hollywood—at the age of 13—with a role in a major blockbuster, the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line. Now, it looks as though this 19-year-old gent’s career is on the up, in a big way.

DA MAN: Can you tell us about yourself; how you got into acting; what your favorite roles have been to date?
LT: I started taking classes when I was 10, got my first job when i was 11, and now I’m here. My favorite roles would probably be playing a Marine corporal in Battle: Los Angeles or Jack in Vacation 8.

DA: You starred in Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” video and got fairly intimate with her in a couple scenes, are you two friends?
LT: I always loved Taylor’s music, since I was 15, I guess, and yes, to my pleasant surprise, I had the chance to get intimate with her. It was pretty awesome. Yes, we are still friends.

DA: You’ve also worked with Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana. You must a have a ton of young female fans, how do you deal with all that?
LT: I had always hoped I would have some kind of fan base one day, but certainly didn’t expect it as fast as it has come, and especially not the demographic. Young girls are the most fanatic, and it can be overwhelming, so I try to imagine I am just at my little cousin’s birthday party, and all of her friends had way too much caffeine, and my uncle just told me it’s my job to settle them all down.

DA: How was it working with Jackie Chan on The Spy Next Door?
LT: A dream come true. He was my childhood hero, and I had the opportunity to get my ass kicked by him three times in one movie. I can now die a happy man.

DA: You have some big roles in the works (or coming out soon), can you tell us about those?
LT: In Battle: Los Angeles, I play a Marine corporal, which is going to be an epic alien war movie, and it was different from what I usually play. In Vacation 8, I play a young guy on vacation in a beautiful foreign country, who soon finds out the world he is in may not be all it’s cracked up to be—maybe even a little less real than it is meant to be.

DA: Whet else can you tell us about Battle: Los Angeles?
LT: Yet another dream come true. At the ‘table read’ there were automatic weapons laid out. The next day, I attended boot camp, where I got to fire automatic weapons. Then, every day that I went to work, I got to blow stuff up and shoot automatic weapons at aliens. I can now die an even happier man.

DA: Have any of your roles been close to the real you?
LT: There is a little bit of me in every role I have played, but probably the closest was Vacation 8.

DA: You were in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, are you fan of his music?
LT: I am a HUGE fan of Johnny Cash’s music. Although, to be honest with you, I wasn’t until a couple of years after I did that movie.

DA: You’ll be doing more and more red carpets in the next few months/years, are you into fashion? If so, what brands do you like?
LT: I am absolutely not into fashion. Not because I am against it, but basically if fashion were your ears, I’d be deaf.

DA: As a student of Brazilian jujitsu, have you had any roles where that has come in handy?
LT: Kind of. I told the director of The Spy Next Door that I did it and he gave me the job. I don’t think he knows what it is, seeing as though there isn’t a lot of striking in jujitsu, and that was all I did in the movie.

DA: How do you think you’ve translated that talent for martial arts into acting, if at all?
LT: Martial arts, like any physical activity, can take sloppiness out of many aspects of your life—so, it gives me more discipline to put into my work as an actor.

DA: I notice that you were born at Fort Hood, Texas, were you a military kid?
LT: Yes I was, or am. My dad is still a lieutenant colonel in the Army.

DA: You’ve traveled around the USA and Germany, where is your ideal place to live?
LT: Somewhere in between the suburbs and a rural area of around where I grew up. Although I love going to other places, I always feel like I am on vacation, and there is no place like home.

DA: What about your ideal place to visit/vacation spot?
LT: Definitely Thailand so far.

DA: Any “culture shock” stories after hitting the bright lights of Hollywood?
LT: The attitudes of pedestrians. I feel like everywhere else in America, people know to respect the massive metal frame wheeling toward you and not walk out in front of you at the last second. It’s almost as if they are trying to test how big of a lawsuit they can get, but what is the point of a million-dollar settlement if you’re paralyzed from the waist up? Still frustrates me to this day.

DA: What were your favorite subjects in high school?
LT: German and video production.

DA: What are your strengths, as a person? As an actor?
LT: I don’t let myself get disappointed very easily, so I never get down about not getting a job—which may also be seen as a weakness. My aunt just calls it pessimism.

DA: What areas do feel you need to improve on?
LT: My drive to succeed can be a little too much for others in my life. Mostly, it leads to neglecting many of my relationships.

DA: To make it big in showbiz, how would you rank things like talent, looks, luck, etc.?
LT: 1. Good Luck; 2. Talent and Ambition; 3. Timing; 4. Physical Attractiveness; 5. Willingness to succumb (Yes, I deliberately phrased it that way). This formula is only if you want longevity. If you want to get real famous, real fast, then just switch numbers two and five.

DA: What is your dream role/character?
LT: Heath Ledger’s Joker. But it’s already been done, so I’m going to have to come up with something else.

DA: Being in showbiz and with showbiz seemingly overtaken by the by vampire craze, what’s your take on that?
LT: I absolutely hate it. I have always loved the vampire concept and the frequency which it has been re-created. Then this new wave came in and ruined it for at least another two decades. It used to be cool to be a vampire, but soon the term will be met with a teenage eye roll.

DA: I’ve seen a list of actors that would you most like to work with (Will Ferrell, Matt Damon, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Brad Pitt), what is it about them that intrigues you?
LT: They are all good enough actors with enough likability to sustain their careers throughout many years.

DA: Which directors/producers would you most like to work with?
LT: I’ll probably sound like a jerk but whatever: James Cameron, Christopher Nolan and my good friend Jason Trost, again.

DA: What is your goal for your acting career?
LT: Although I am 100 percent goal-oriented, I like to roll with the punches on this part of my life. This being because I have tried planning it out and it always goes horribly wrong. Ideally, I would like to be an action star, only because I like blowing things up way too much.

DA: Who is your role model? And how has she or he inspired you?
LT: My dad. Standup guy who you would have to be insane not to like. Always treats people with respect and he’s intelligent enough not to let idiots get away with being stupid.

DA: Describe the ideal long-term partner for you?
LT: She would have to loooove video games, be spontaneous and adventurous, and have dark hair.

DA: How would your lover or friend describe you?
LT: ‘The kid’s alright I guess, funny enough and he’ll be there when you need him to be and whatever.’ That’s an exact quote from a friend who described me.

DA: In two years from now, what do you see yourself doing?
LT: Either working on a big project or joining the military.

DA: What about 10 or more years?
LT: My production company will have our own castle modeled after Helm’s Deep from Lord of the Rings, where I will reside, or I’ll be an officer in the Marines or Army.
